Saara Aalto

Saara Aalto is a Finnish singer and songwriter. She is most known for taking part in British The X Factor in 2016 and for representing Finland at the Eurovision Song Contest 2018.

Saara first rose to fame for participating in the Finnish edition of The Voice, ending second. She has also attempted to represent Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest in 2011 and 2016, with “Blessed with Love” and “No Fear” respectively, finishing second in the national final both times.

In 2016, Aalto took part in the 13th series of The X Factor UK. The Finnish singer placed second in the show, gaining international attention.

In late 2017, Finnish broadcaster Yle announced that they had internally selected Saara as their representative for the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest. Aalto worked with international songwriters in her potential Eurovision songs and her team shortlisted three tracks. Those three tracks, “Monsters”, “Domino” and “Queens”, were released through February 2018 and would compete in the national final UMK 2018 to choose Saara’s Eurovision entry.

UMK 2018 was held on 3 March 2018 and “Monsters” won both the international jury and public vote, becoming Finland’s entry at the Eurovison Song Contest 2018.

In April 2018, Saara released her international debut and overall sixth studio album, Wild Wild Wonderland.
