This award is one of the four most prestigious awards. This award is awarded to the performer, producer and the engineers. While sounds similar to the Song of the Year category, but the award is given to the composers of the song. So if Beyonce and change one word, for example from BOY to GIRL, she will get that songwriter credit (or insist or just list her name in). Together with that, she can have bragging rights of writing every song on her album and tons of songwriting royalties, and the award if the song wins..
