feature: A Prelude / Brit Awards 2009

Howdy guys (and gals) *waves* =)

Well, let me do a rough intro of myself first. Am the new addition to the team as an editor. I go by the moniker of Rickified, aka G.U.M.M.Y. Why this strange nickname you might have asked. It stands for [G]eeky [U]nderrated [M]usic [M]aestro [Y]uppie.
(Loves the Gummy Berries at Loof) =)

The reason for this nick is because though mainstream Top 40 songs usually have catchy hooks that’ll grab you immediately, some songs are worthy of being in the Top 40 too and being overlooked upon. Like some tracks from the album that’s worthy of being singles but never released. That’s my designation i guess. =) I would also would be doing album reviews in a critic point of view for most major releases, introduce new music artistes to look out for and have commentary on music which is worth listening. =) Comments are mostly definitely welcome.. =)

Now on with my very first post!!!

I was hoping James Morrison would win for the British Male Solo Artist Award. The vibe of his album is good and I like his collabo with Nelly Furtado which is still on the UK chart going strong.

As for British Female Solo, I favored M.I.A but Duffy is good enough. =) Duffy also won for British Album and British Breakthrough act, which coincidentally The Ting Tings are up for this two awards. The Tings Ting should have won British Breakthrough though.

For the rest, the winners are not really surprising though. For International Group and International Album, it’s a close fight between The Killers, MGMT and Kings of Leon. I’m fine with all 3, but MGMT stands out for me. =) Would intro them soon. =)
